Political creative work featured in The Independent On Sunday

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Shortly before Christmas, Graham Lewis, Creative Partner at GREEN, was asked by the newspaper to produce some speculative political posters for the forthcoming General Election: “to get a flavour of the political parties’ possible tactics, the Independent on Sunday asked six leading advertising agencies to produce these exclusive posters to give readers a sneak preview of how an election campaign might be fought.”
The result is a series of trenchant yet creative posters pre-empting the tone of the current campaign.

Graham comments on his poster as “A succinct one-word headline using a clever corruption of Dave Cameron’s surname. We want people to understand the simple message that he isn’t fit for No 10.”

“Vote for policies, not personalities”

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I recently came across this really interesting website: http://voteforpolicies.org.uk/.

It allows you to make a blind comparison of the policies proposed by the different political parties for the next General Election and to base your vote on policies rather than on personalities or prejudices. I did the survey myself (although I am not entitled to vote in the UK) and the results are pretty interesting.

I think it’s a great tool to foster participation and political awareness, although I am not sure that if you were intending to vote for the Greens and that after taking the survey it turns out that you “should” vote for the BNP you should necessarily take up this advice…

Below is a graph showing the turnout rates of the General Elections since 1945 (http://www.politicsresources.net/area/uk/turnout.htm)
